Disable Windows hardware acceleration

The Hardware Acceleration tab allows you to specify the performance of the graphics hardware present on your PC.


Here's how to disable the hardware acceleration on Windows Vista/7/XP/2000/98/NT4


Windows Vista & Windows 7


1. Click Start - Control Panel - Appearance and Personalization.


2. Under Personalization, click Adjust screen resolution.

3. On the Display Settings dialog, click the Advanced Settings button.


4. On the monitor properties dialog, click the Troubleshoot tab.

5. Click the Change settings button.


6. On the security dialog, click Continue.

7. Move the Hardware Acceleration slider to the extreme left of the scale.

8. Click OK.

9. Restart Windows.


Windows XP and Windows 2000


1. Right-click the desktop, then on the context menu, click Properties.


2. Click the Settings tab, and then click Advanced. The Advanced Settings dialog box appears.


3. Click the Troubleshoot tab.

4. Disable the hardware acceleration completely by dragging the slider to the extreme left of the scale. You can also choose to turn down the hardware acceleration by selecting an intermediate value.

5. Click OK, and then Close.


Windows 98


Click Start -- Control Panel -- System -- Performance -- Graphics, and slide Hardware acceleration to None.


Windows NT4


Click Start -- Control Panel -- System -- Performance, and slide Boost to None.


Please restart your machine after the change.
